Amelia 24-Hour Records Route
No distinct official PRJ 24-hour release page was located as of the research date. The Piedmont Regional Jail Offender Lookup says it finds a person if that individual is incarcerated at PRJ and under its custody. That wording makes the tool a live custody check. It does not turn a missing result into a release entry, show a past event, or promise that a former record stays online for a full day.
Amelia County uses a regional adult jail in Farmville. PRJ, rather than a separate Amelia County jail, creates the core booking and release record for an adult held there on an Amelia matter. The useful same-day route is therefore PRJ lookup, court review, VINE check, and direct contact with PRJ records. Each result should be saved with the time checked. If the person left PRJ, the record must also state whether the destination was the community or another authority.
Check Amelia Same-Day Releases
Begin with identifiers that distinguish the correct person. Use the full booked name and aliases, date of birth when appropriate, approximate booking date, Amelia arresting or committing agency, and court case number. A same-name match is not enough. The following sequence keeps the inquiry tied to the last 24 hours without pretending that PRJ supplies a rolling public list.
- Search the official PRJ current lookup. Record the exact name entered, the search time, and whether a current record appeared.
- Search the Virginia court case system in the Amelia court that handled the matter. Read the newest order or docket event.

A person still shown by PRJ is reported in current regional-jail custody. A VINE notice can support a custody change, but agency feeds may lag. Not every public copy will contain every item. Virginia law permits redaction of exempt material. Request electronic copies and a cost estimate. If PRJ records a transfer, continue with the named receiving agency. A VADOC institution, district office, federal custodian, or ICE facility answers a different custody question than PRJ.
PRJ also houses people under local, state, and U.S. Marshals authority. Include the committing authority in the request so the response identifies the Amelia matter and does not merge it with a different case or custodian.
When Amelia Releases Leave PRJ
PRJ published a local change to offender release hours in July 2026, but its official sources conflict. The PRJ homepage announcement identified a July 21 effective date and a nightly pause from 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. The linked release-hours article has stated July 13 and a 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. pause. A revised Superintendent memorandum was also posted. None of those competing versions should be treated as settled without checking the current written rule with PRJ.
This conflict explains why a late court authorization and a physical departure can carry different dates or times. Staff may also need to verify other holds, prepare property, or arrange transfer. The careful question is not merely when a judge signed an order. Ask when PRJ processed the exit, what authority it used, and where the person went. Even a confirmed operating window would not promise that each eligible person leaves as soon as the window opens.

Amelia Bond Release Is Distinct
A bond release ends the current detention while the criminal case continues. It is not sentence completion. Amelia General District Court may show the bond event or preliminary-stage proceedings, while Circuit Court may hold a later felony adjudication, appeal, or sentencing record. The court docket explains the authority. PRJ records the physical departure and whether another hold blocked or redirected it.
Read the latest case entry with care. Terms such as dismissed, acquitted, time served, suspended time, probation, appeal, capias, and revocation have different effects. A bond order may exist before payment, verification, or clearance of all holds. Conversely, a PRJ record may say transfer even after one local case authorized release. Label the outcome “released pretrial” only when the sources support it. Never recast it as a completed sentence.

Why Amelia Release Names Vanish
PRJ gives no public promise that a released record remains in its current lookup for any set period. The wrapper is expressly limited to people incarcerated at PRJ and under its custody. That makes roster disappearance expected when custody changes, yet it does not disclose why the change occurred. There is also no published cadence or post-release retention window for the vendor view.
Do not create a release claim by comparing two roster snapshots. A person may have been sent to VADOC, picked up under federal authority, transferred to another jail, or delivered to immigration custody. A spelling change or delayed update can also alter results. The decisive field is the PRJ release or transfer entry. If the record names VADOC, use the Inmate & Supervisee Locator after intake. If it names another authority, follow that system instead.
Request Amelia Same-Day Records
Send a PRJ request for a fixed interval, such as midnight through 11:59 p.m. on a named date, or for one identified booking. Include Amelia arresting, committing, or court identifiers so a six-county regional response does not sweep in unrelated cases. Virginia FOIA generally calls for a response within five working days through production, a cited exemption, a statement that records were not found, or notice that more time is needed. Qualifying circumstances can add seven working days. Reasonable actual production costs may apply, and an estimate can be requested before work starts. The agency does not have to create a new record. Asking for the existing entry and segregable, nonexempt parts is stronger than demanding a custom list.
A Virginia citizen or qualifying media representative has the clearest statutory access standing. Request the booking number, release time, release type, authority, receiving agency, and hold disposition.
